Preserve. Nurture. Grow.
My name is William Gosnell, and I’m honored to be running for a seat on the Sycamore Community School Board in the upcoming November 4, 2025 election.
At the heart of my campaign is a deep desire to protect the glow of this district. A glow that reflects belonging, excellence, and opportunity for all families.

I am not another politician. I am a teacher.
My background and favorite subject is in science education. I hold a BS in Biology from the University of South Carolina’s Honors College and a Master's of Forest Resources from the University of Georgia.
For over 10 years, I worked in zoos and aquariums, including the Newport Aquarium and Columbus Zoo & Aquarium, teaching environmental interpretation and conservation. Afterwards, I transitioned to higher education, where I have taught biological sciences at the University of Cincinnati for the past 9 years. The next step in this journey will start in August 2025, when I will serve a 2-year term on the University’s Faculty Senate.

I am a Husband. My amazing better half and I met in undergrad at the University of South Carolina. We moved to Ohio so she could pursue her career passion in pediatric dentistry, and she now serves as the division director at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. I am a Dad. Rosalie, 6, completed kindergarten at Maple Dale. James, 4, will start in one year, and Kate, 2, will start in 3 years. We have completed our first year in this incredible district - 16 more to go!

I will aim to Preserve, Nurture, and Grow our higher education system just as I hope to do in Sycamore Schools.
PRESERVE.
Sycamore is special. There is a beacon of hope, a glow, an ember that attracts people to this area. It is known for excellence, and people want to be a part of this community! My family worked for 14 months to find an amazing home in the Winds, and we couldn’t be happier with the warmth and support surrounding our family.
You may also want to preserve those qualities that make Sycamore so special for families of all backgrounds. I want to help preserve Sycamore Schools for the 16 years my family and children will spend here, and for generations beyond.
NURTURE.
The School Board should be here to nurture and heal relationships within the district. Communities are becoming fractured, members feel their voice is not being heard or respected, and trust is fading.
The Board can focus on that hope and joy, and lead with empathy. The Board should have chances to meet with students, teachers, parents, community members, and walk alongside them to learn about the challenges and successes of the district.
GROW.
If we preserve and nurture what is special about Sycamore and nurture our relationships and trust, then we can watch this district, its students, and the community grow and provide a sustainable harvest.
We have to first address the budget, rising expenses and spending, stagnant revenues, unstable state budgets, and an overdue levy. The Board may begin to become fiscally responsible with wise spending while also preserving the amazing opportunities and community feedback.
